Apple has started offering certified refurbished iPhone 16 series models through its online store in the US. These latest-generation refurbished iPhones are being made available at noticeably lower prices. The refurbished lineup includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with discounts ranging between 12 percent and 22 percent compared to Apple’s original or current pricing. Here’s all you need to know.
Apple’s refurbished iPhones are unlocked and come with a new battery and a new outer shell. They are shipped in a plain box with a USB-C charging cable and include a one-year limited Apple warranty. Buyers can also opt for extended coverage through AppleCare+ or AppleCare One.
According to Apple, refurbished devices are thoroughly cleaned and tested and are generally indistinguishable from brand-new units.
When the iPhone 16 series launched in September 2024, Apple’s starting prices were set at $799 for the iPhone 16, $899 for the iPhone 16 Plus, $999 for the iPhone 16 Pro, and $1,199 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Since then, Apple has reduced the prices of the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which are still sold as previous-generation models, to $699 and $799, respectively.
With the launch of refurbished units, prices drop further. The refurbished iPhone 16 starts at $619, while the iPhone 16 Plus is priced from $699.
The iPhone 16 Pro is available from $759, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $929, offering a more affordable entry point into Apple’s latest hardware.
Alongside the US, Apple has begun rolling out refurbished iPhone 16 models on its online store in several other markets, including Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and a few additional countries. However, availability varies by region, and not all models are currently listed in every country.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max feature larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, up from the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch panels seen on the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. Other highlights include the Camera Control button, the A18 Pro chip optimised for Apple Intelligence, a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera, support for 4K video recording at 120fps, improved battery life, faster MagSafe charging, and upgraded microphones.
The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus also offer the Camera Control button and support for Apple Intelligence, bringing key features of the Pro models to more affordable options.
