As Apple gears up to unveil its groundbreaking Apple Intelligence technology, excitement is building among tech enthusiasts and Apple users alike.

Set to debut in beta form this summer and receive a wider release in the fall alongside iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and iPadOS 18, Apple Intelligence promises to revolutionize how we interact with our devices.

However, not all Apple products will be invited to this AI party from the start.

What is Apple Intelligence?

MLTensor addition to Core ML framework enhances machine learning capabilities

Apple Intelligence represents a significant step forward in the company’s AI ambitions, offering a suite of powerful features that range from advanced image manipulation to a dramatically enhanced Siri experience.

Users can look forward to creating original images through simple text prompts, effortlessly removing unwanted objects from photos, and even generating custom emojis with the new Genmoji feature.

The revamped Siri boasts on-screen and context awareness, along with ChatGPT integration, promising a more intuitive and capable virtual assistant.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple and Meta have discussed a partnership that would see Meta AI models integrated into iOS 18 for Apple Intelligence.

Language tools are another cornerstone of Apple Intelligence, providing AI-powered writing assistance that can analyze and revise text in various styles, as well as offer proofreading services.

These same tools will extend to content management, intelligently prioritizing and summarizing notifications, emails, and other information on your device.

Devices That Will Support Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is coming soon to iOS 18 users

However, the availability of these exciting features will be limited to specific devices at launch.

Here’s the comprehensive list of Apple products that will support Apple Intelligence:

• iPhones: iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
• Macs: All M1, M2, and M3 series MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro models
• iPads: M1 and M2 iPad Pro and iPad Air models, plus the M4 iPad Pro

Notably absent from this list are the Vision Pro, Apple Watch, and HomePod devices.

While support for Vision Pro is reportedly in development, and future HomePod models may eventually gain compatibility, the story for Apple Watch remains uncertain.

Apple Intelligence will support ChatGPT integration as well

Looking ahead, it’s reasonable to expect that Apple Intelligence will eventually permeate the entire Apple ecosystem.

For now, though, the technology remains the domain of select iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

While not all users will have immediate access to these cutting-edge features, it sets the stage for a future where AI capabilities are seamlessly woven into our daily digital interactions across all Apple devices.
