It appears Vivo is working on a new S-series smartphone and it is possibly the Vivo X500s. Tipster Digital Chat Station has posted details of an engineering sample but has not revealed the phone’s name. So, the identity of the smartphone in the leak remains unconfirmed but reports hint that it is most likely X500s.
If the leaked details are accurate, the Vivo X500s could offer a larger and higher-resolution screen than its predecessor, the Vivo X300s. Here’s what we know based on this early leak.
Vivo X500s Expected Display Specs
According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Vivo is testing a smartphone with a 6.85-inch 2K+ display and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is also described as a quad-sided flat screen, suggesting a flat display design with a similar appearance across all four edges.
The 2K+ resolution could also offer sharper visuals than the 1.5K panel found on the Vivo X300s, while the 144Hz refresh rate is designed to deliver smoother scrolling and animations.
However, these specifications belong to an engineering sample. Vivo could change the display size, resolution or panel type before the phone reaches the market.
Vivo X500s – What Else We Know So Far
The latest leak does not reveal the chipset, camera specifications, battery capacity, charging speeds or software details of the rumoured Vivo X500s. Its official name has also not been confirmed.
If the engineering sample does belong to the Vivo X500s, its larger 6.85-inch display could be one of the main differences between the two models. Details about other possible hardware upgrades remain unavailable.
Comparison With Previous Models
The leaked display specifications suggest that the possible Vivo X500s could offer a larger screen than both the Vivo X300s and the standard Vivo X500.
The Vivo X300s launched in March with a 6.78-inch 1.5K display and a 144Hz refresh rate. It was the first smartphone in Vivo’s X series to move beyond a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone arrived alongside the Vivo X300 Ultra, which also features a flat 2K display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
For context, the standard Vivo X500, launched in China in September and features a 6.59-inch 2K display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M chipset and packs a 7,500mAh battery.
Based on the leaked details, the Vivo X500s could have a larger display than the standard X500 and X300s, while matching the X300 Ultra’s reported 2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
Vivo X500s Expected Launch Timeline
Vivo has not announced the X500s or confirmed a launch date. The latest information is based on an engineering sample, which means the company could still make changes before finalising the device.
More details about the phone’s chipset, cameras, battery and availability could emerge in the coming weeks.
