Aadhaar must be linked to PF by this month: Here’s how to do it

Attention Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) account holders! If you have not yet linked your Provident Fund (accounts) with Aadhaar card, then do it immediately.

The government has made it compulsory for EPFO subscribers to link their Aadhaar with PF Universal Account Number (UAN) before September 1 to continue availing the facilities and have access to the EPF. However, if they fail to do so, then there access to the EPF will be restricted along with its facilities. The last date for linking Aadhaar with PF was earlier June 1, 2021, which was extended to September 1, 2021.

For employees, EPFO is one of the most essential savings-cum-retirement schemes and also come in handy when members lose or quit their jobs as they can withdraw funds for emergency use from their Provident Fund account.

It must be noted that employers will only be able to file Employee-cum-Return (ECR) challans and deposit the money to the EPF account if their Aadhaar and UAN are linked. If they don’t have their Aadhaar linked to UAN, they will be unable to make the monthly contributions to the EPF account. Therefore, any laxness in obeying rules can be counterproductive for PF account holders and they should hurry up and do their Aadhaar-PF linking quickly.

Here’s how you can link the UAN to the Aadhaar on the unified portal of EPF:

Step 1: Go to the official website of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)

Step 2: Click on ‘Manage’ and select ‘KYC’ option

Step 3: Tap on Aadhaar option

Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar card number, name and save it

Step 5: Once it is saved, it will show under ‘Pending KYC’. This will go to your employer for Approval. Once approved, it will be shown under ‘Approved KYC’

How to link your UAN with Aadhaar using UMANG app:

You must be registered user of UMANG app to link UAN with Aadhaar card.

Step 1: Select ‘EPFO’ under ‘All Services’ tab

Step 2: Select ‘eKYC Services’ under ‘EPFO’ option

Step 3: Select ‘Aadhaar Seeding’ option under ‘eKYC services’

Step 4: Enter UAN and select ‘Get OTP’

Step 5: An OTP will be sent to the phone number registered with the EPFO account

Step 6: Verify OTP, input your Aadhaar details

Step 7: Another OTP will be sent to Aadhaar registered e-mail and phone number

Step 8: Once OTP is verified, your Aadhaar will be linked with UAN
