OPPO Reno17 to Feature Six-Second 4K Live Photos With Full Focal Length Support

Highlights

  • OPPO has confirmed that the upcoming OPPO Reno17 series will support six-second 4K Live Photos across all focal lengths.
  • The enhanced Live Photo feature is designed to make it easier to capture moving subjects and give users a longer recording window without needing to shoot separate videos.
  • Leaks suggest the Reno17 Pro could feature a 6.32-inch 1.5K 120Hz display, Dimensity 8550 Super chipset, 200MP triple-camera system, 50MP selfie camera and around 7,000mAh.

While OPPO has started accepting reservations for the Reno17 series in China ahead of its confirmed November launch, details of news features are cropping up. According to the latest reports, OPPO is preparing to introduce an upgraded Live Photo feature with its upcoming Oppo Reno17 series. The company has revealed that the smartphones will support six-second 4K Live Photos across all focal lengths giving users more time to capture moving moments. Here’s what we know so far.

OPPO Reno17 4K Live Photo Feature Revealed

OPPO has previewed a new camera feature for the Reno17 series called full-focal-length 4K Live Photos. The feature will let users capture six seconds of motion in 4K quality across different focal lengths.

This is an upgrade over the earlier three-second Live Photo format that gives users a longer window to capture moments that might otherwise be missed. However, OPPO has yet to share additional technical details about the feature.

OPPO Reno17 Could Bring Improved Live Photo Capture

Live Photos combine a regular still image with a short motion clip. The camera records a brief sequence around the moment the user takes the picture instead of capturing just one frame.

With the Reno17 series, OPPO is extending this experience to six seconds. The full-focal-length support is another important addition as it means users may be able to capture Live Photos at different camera zoom levels rather than being limited to a particular lens.

The longer recording duration could be useful when photographing children, pets, sports or other moving subjects. It may also give users more flexibility when capturing everyday moments that they want to share as short clips. The feature could offer another way to capture and share motion without having to record a separate video for content creators.

OPPO Reno17 Specifications: What We Know So Far

OPPO has not revealed the complete specifications of the Reno17 series yet. However, leaks have offered some details about the higher-end Reno17 Pro.

The smartphone is tipped to feature a compact 6.32-inch display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super processor and feature a 50-megapixel front camera.

On the rear, the Reno17 Pro is tipped to get a triple-camera setup comprising a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The phone is also said to pack a battery close to 7,000mAh.

These specifications are based on leaks and have not been confirmed by OPPO. Details such as the final camera sensors, battery capacity and charging speed remain unknown.

OPPO Reno17 Launch Timeline and Expected Availability

OPPO has opened reservations for the Reno17 series in China and confirmed that the lineup will launch in November. However, the company has not announced an exact launch date or revealed the final pricing.

There is also no confirmed India launch date or pricing information at the moment and OPPO is yet to share details about the series’ availability outside China.

We should know more about the Reno17 series including its complete specifications and pricing when OPPO officially launches the smartphones in China this month.
