After several rumours revealing some of the key details about the upcoming flagship, OnePlus 16’s first official look is now out ahead of its expected October launch. The company has now confirmed the phone’s design, colour choices and RAM-storage combinations through its pre-order listing. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about the smartphone so far.

The overall design of OnePlus 16 features a familiar square metal camera island with rounded corners. One of the notable additions is a customisable AI key placed along the left edge of the handset. According to the official teasers, the flagship will be offered in three finishes named Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece.

Among these, Tomorrow Starlight gets the most distinctive treatment. It has an interactive breathing light built into the back of the phone. The lighting effect can illuminate the OnePlus branding as well as celestial coordinates on the rear panel. The company is also using a new nano-grating texture that creates a flowing starlight effect when the phone is rotated.

OnePlus says the Tomorrow Starlight model also uses a new silk glass process. The surface is designed to resist fingerprints while retaining the starlight effect.

OnePlus 16 – Up to 16GB RAM and 1TB Storage Confirmed

The OnePlus 16 won’t be limited to a single memory configuration. The pre-order listing shows four options for buyers.

The entry configuration will pair 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. There will also be a 12GB + 512GB version, followed by a 16GB + 512GB variant. At the top of the range, the phone will be available with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

What Else We Know About OnePlus 16?

According to previous reports, the OnePlus 16 is reportedly being developed with a BOE X4 flat OLED display. It is said to support a 165Hz refresh rate across the system with gaming sessions capable of pushing this figure to 185Hz when optimised for the higher refresh rate.

The phone is also expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor. On the software side, reports point to Android 17 with ColorOS 17.

The flagship is reportedly equipped with a 9,000mAh battery and Oppo’s energy management silicon, which is intended to improve efficiency at lower voltages. Charging is expected to remain fast with support for 100W wired charging and it is also tipped to offer 50W wireless charging.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to use a triple-camera setup on the rear. The primary sensor could be a 200-megapixel unit with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. The main camera will reportedly be accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.95-inch sensor.
