Qualcomm has just confirmed when its next big mobile chip is coming. If you’re excited about what’s next in Android performance, mark your calendar for September 23 because reports suggest that’s when the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be unveiled.
The announcement was made during Computex 2025, where Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon revealed that this year’s Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 23 to 25 in Hawaii. That’s about a month earlier than last year’s event, which was held in October. A slide showing the dates was also spotted by the folks at NotebookCheck.

The Snapdragon Summit is Qualcomm’s usual stage for revealing its next-gen smartphone chips and the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be the main attraction this year.
However, Qualcomm is also expected to introduce new laptop chips for Windows devices including models like Microsoft’s Surface.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 – What We Know?
As for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, it’s shaping up to deliver a big performance leap. The chip is expected to have a base clock speed of 4.4GHz, slightly faster than the 4.32GHz seen on its predecessor. It will also feature Qualcomm’s second-generation custom CPU architecture and the GPU’s cache size may grow from 12MB to 16MB.
The chip will be built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, which should bring a 4% performance boost and 9% better power efficiency without changing clock speeds. There’s also talk of the chip supporting the new SME instruction set (part of the Arm64 architecture), which could improve both multimedia and graphics performance.
We’re also getting a sense of what devices might launch with the chip first. The Xiaomi 16 series including the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro is expected to lead the pack. Other phones likely to follow include the Redmi K90 Pro, Realme GT 8 Pro, OnePlus 14, iQOO 14, Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra and the Oppo Find X9 Ultra.
