Sony has officially launched its latest flagship phone the Sony Xperia 1 VII during an online event. It keeps the same tall 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio as the previous model but now gets 20% brighter. The screen supports a smooth 1–120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz motion blur reduction and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Here’s all we know about the phone.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII will be available in Moss Green, Orchid Purple and Slate Black colour options. It’s priced at €1499 (approx. USD 1665 / ₹1,41,245) and £1399 (approx. USD 1843 / ₹1,56,325).
Pre-orders are now live with shipping starting June 4, 2025 in the UK, Europe and other regions.
Sony Xperia 1 VII – Key Features
The Xperia 1 VII is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with 12GB of RAM, vapor chamber cooling, and it runs Android 15. Sony promises 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches, which is a solid step up from past models.
Sony has improved its camera setup this year. The main 52MP camera with an Exmor T sensor and Zeiss optics remains, along with the 12MP periscope zoom lens offering a focal range of 85mm to 170mm, supporting up to 7x optical zoom.

The big upgrade is in the ultra-wide camera, which now features a larger 48MP sensor, 2.1 times bigger than before. It reduces distortion and can even shoot macro photos from as close as 5cm.

Sony has also added new AI-powered camera features. One is AI Camera Work, which keeps your subject centered and steady in the frame even if you’re walking or the subject is moving. Another is Auto Framing, where the camera automatically tracks your subject and adjusts the framing without you needing to follow it around.

Sony says the Xperia 1 VII “inherits the DNA of Walkman.” It features a circuit design built to boost audio quality and includes components used in Sony’s Walkman lineup. This means better clarity when using wired headphones, almost like listening to a high-end music player.

The phone also includes DSEE Ultimate for both wired and wireless audio. This AI-powered feature enhances even compressed streaming music to deliver a richer, more immersive sound.
There are also Full-Stage stereo speakers tuned to offer clear sound across all frequencies, support for 360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos built in.

The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus on the back for durability. It’s water and dust resistant with IP65/IP68 ratings, has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and comes with a 5000mAh battery.
