Xiaomi is entering the world of AI-powered laptops with its first AI PC under development. During a recent livestream focused on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the company’s President Lu Weibing confirmed that Xiaomi’s first AI PC is in the works.
While Weibing didn’t reveal the official name of the laptop, he did highlight one major feature. The laptop would boast a massive 99Wh battery, designed to stay just under airline limits for carry-on electronics.
Just before Weibing’s announcement, the Product Marketing Director at Xiaomi Communications Technology Ma Zhiyu shared an image of the new Redmi laptop packaging. This device will most likely named the Redmi Book Pro 2025 and is rumoured to feature an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. Although, the exact model remains unclear as of now.
The upcoming laptop is expected to seamlessly integrate with Xiaomi’s HyperOS Smart Connect allowing smooth interaction with Xiaomi’s smartphones, tablets and smart home devices. It will also come preloaded with Xiao AI Assistant and Xiaomi PC Manager, hinting at AI-driven productivity features and automation.
Aside from AI enhancements, leaked benchmarks suggest solid gaming performance. Ma Zhiyu tested the laptop with Black Myth: Wukong, one of the most anticipated Chinese action RPGs. The device reportedly delivered an average of 67 fps, peaking at 75 fps and never dropping below 59 fps, which is a sign of strong cooling and a capable GPU.
Xiaomi’s laptop lineup has been somewhat unpredictable, especially compared to bigger players in the space. However, Ma Zhiyu clarified that Xiaomi-branded laptops will continue to receive updates, just not in the immediate future. For now, it seems Xiaomi is focusing on the Redmi lineup.
Last month, the company launched the Redmi Book 14 and 16 2025 laptops, powered by Intel Core 5-220H processors, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The 14-inch model features a 2.8K 120Hz display, while the 16-inch variant has a 2.5K 120Hz screen, both certified by TÜV Rheinland.
Other highlights include a 72Wh battery, 100W GaN fast charging, HyperOS 2 optimisations and Xiaomi HyperOS Connect for better battery life and device integration. The laptops also come with a sleek metal chassis, multiple connectivity options, Dolby Atmos audio and a 1080p camera.
