Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi Watch 5 at its imaging strategy upgrade event, held alongside the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The new smartwatch arrives as a feature-packed wearable with a dual-chip design, advanced health tracking capabilities and optional eSIM connectivity. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Xiaomi smartwatch.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 sports a 47mm stainless steel chassis paired with a 1.54-inch AMOLED display. The screen features an ultra-narrow 2.6mm bezel, supports a 60Hz refresh rate, and delivers up to 1,500 nits of global brightness. For improved durability, Xiaomi has used synthetic sapphire glass to protect both the display and the heart rate sensor window.
At its core, the smartwatch runs on a dual-chip, dual-system setup. It combines a 4nm-based Snapdragon W5 wearable processor with the BES2800 low-power chip. While the Snapdragon W5 takes care of high-performance tasks and graphics, the BES2800 handles background processes and health monitoring, helping to extend battery life. According to Xiaomi, the Watch 5 can offer up to six days of battery life in performance mode and up to 18 days in power-saving mode.
Select variants of the Xiaomi Watch 5 support eSIM, enabling standalone 4G connectivity without the need for a paired smartphone. With this feature, users can make voice calls, send and receive text messages, use WeChat, and make Alipay payments directly from the watch.
It also supports music streaming and turn-by-turn navigation via Baidu Maps. Xiaomi has added a built-in app store as well, offering access to a wide range of applications across fitness, social, navigation, and daily utility categories.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 brings advanced health monitoring tools including ECG heart rhythm analysis that delivers 30-second readings along with detailed reports. Xiaomi has also introduced an EMG muscle signal sensor on a smartwatch for the first time. This sensor detects subtle electrical signals from muscles, allowing users to control calls, media playback, alarms, and connected devices using finger gestures.
Additional health features include continuous heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep monitoring, stress detection, and one-tap comprehensive health scans.
For fitness enthusiasts, the Watch 5 supports more than 150 sports modes. Indoor workout modes come with 3D animated coaching, automatic repetition counting, and in-depth performance analysis. Outdoor sports features include offline maps, route navigation, deviation alerts, and track-back assistance, making it suitable for activities like hiking and trail running.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is now available for purchase in China. The variant with a fluoroelastomer strap is priced at 1,999 yuan (approximately USD 284 or Rs. 25,550) and is available in Black and Green colour options. The Xiaomi Watch 5 Pro with a leather strap is priced at 2,299 yuan (around USD 327 or Rs. 29,380) and comes in Black and Brown shades.
The optional 3D-printed titanium strap is priced separately at 799 yuan (about USD 113 or Rs. 10,210) and is available in Titanium Black and Titanium Silver finishes.
