Some reports had indicated that the Xiaomi Civi 6 was still under development countering rumours that the device might have been cancelled. Now, a new leak has shed more light on Xiaomi’s upcoming Civi lineup. It appears the company could launch the series with a major change this year. Here’s what we know for now.
Fresh information from tipster Digital Chat Station points to a bigger Xiaomi Civi 6 lineup.
According to the DCS’s latest Weibo post, Xiaomi is likely to introduce two models in the Civi 6 series including a standard version and a Pro variant. This would mark a shift for the lineup as previous generations have typically included only a single model.
The addition two models could signal Xiaomi’s intent to expand the Civi series with more premium features and better hardware differentiation.
Based on the leaked details, the Xiaomi Civi 6 is expected to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K display and could be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 chipset offering a balance between performance and efficiency.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Civi 6 Pro is tipped to come with a larger 6.83-inch 1.5K display and will likely be equipped with the more powerful Dimensity 9500 processor positioning it as the more premium option in the lineup.
In terms of cameras, both models are expected to feature a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with support for 5x optical zoom indicating a strong focus on photography.
Xiaomi is also expected to continue its collaboration with Leica for the Civi 6 series. Since the introduction of the Leica Summilux optical system on the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, the brand has emphasised Leica’s colour science and optical processing.
Xiaomi is likely to maintain this focus with the upcoming models and deliver improved colour accuracy and consistent image quality while also enhancing the overall camera hardware.
The Xiaomi Civi 6 series is expected to launch sometime in the first half of the year. However, availability could remain limited.
Previous models such as the Xiaomi Civi 3 were exclusive to the Chinese market. There is a strong possibility that the Civi 6 lineup may follow the same strategy.
There is also a chance that Xiaomi could opt for a global rebranding approach. To recall, the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro was introduced in international markets as the Xiaomi 15 Civi. A similar move could be expected for one of the upcoming Civi 6 models.
