Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, has confirmed the upcoming release of two new foldable phones: the Mix Fold 4 and the Mix Flip.
The company made the announcement on social media, revealing that both devices will be launched this July.
The Mix Fold 4 is set to replace last year’s Mix Fold 3, which was introduced in August.
This earlier release suggests Xiaomi might be keen to get a head start in the market. Alongside it, Xiaomi will debut its first flip-style smartphone, the Mix Flip.
Xiaomi’s announcement highlighted their new factory, which boasts full automation for critical processes.
This smart facility will be responsible for producing both the Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip.
The timing of Xiaomi’s launch is noteworthy, as it coincides with Samsung’s Unpacked Event on 10 July.
Samsung is expected to unveil its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, at this event.
Xiaomi’s decision to launch in the same month could be seen as a direct challenge to Samsung’s dominance in the foldable phone market.
While Xiaomi has confirmed the July launch, they’ve not yet disclosed a specific date or any technical details about the devices.
However, industry insiders have shared some potential specifications.
Reports suggest both phones will feature the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The Mix Flip is rumoured to have a 4-inch outer display and a dual rear camera setup, including a 50MP main camera and a 60MP telephoto lens.
It’s also expected to support 67W fast charging.
The Mix Fold 4 is said to boast a more robust camera system, with a quad-setup featuring a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide, 60MP telephoto, and 10MP periscope telephoto lenses.
Battery life is reportedly a focus for the Fold 4, with capacity expected to exceed 5,000mAh and support for 67W fast charging.
As the launch approaches, more information about these devices is likely to surface.
The introduction of the Mix Flip marks Xiaomi’s entry into the flip-phone market, and it will be interesting to see how it compares to established competitors.
Xiaomi’s move to release their foldables in the same month as Samsung could spark increased competition in the foldable phone sector.
As the launch date nears, tech enthusiasts and consumers alike will be eager to learn more about these new additions to Xiaomi’s Mix lineup.
