Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, continues to stir excitement as fresh leaks shed light on its launch timeline and upgraded camera capabilities. Here’s an update on recent details circulating online.
According to a new leak shared by tipster Smart Pikachu (translated from Chinese) on Weibo, Xiaomi might unveil the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China later this month instead of early 2026, as previously believed. The device has also reportedly been spotted on a Chinese regulatory website with the model number M2551B1, further supporting speculation of an imminent launch.
Alongside the flagship phone, the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro is also said to have received certification, hinting at a simultaneous debut.
The tipster also claims that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a “brand-new Leica coating” on its rear camera lenses. This updated coating is said to help in “eliminating chromatic aberration,” a common issue where the camera fails to align colours correctly, resulting in unwanted colour fringes in images.
Beyond this, the Leica coating is expected to reduce reflections significantly while offering “high definition and fidelity” for clearer, more accurate photos.
A recent report also hinted that Xiaomi may introduce a dedicated photography kit tailored for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Images of the kit suggest that the company might opt for a triple rear camera setup this time, diverging from the quad-camera arrangement seen on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
If leaks are accurate, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could include a 50-megapixel primary camera with an OVX10500U sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto lens powered by the S5KHPE sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter featuring either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor. The front camera may also see an upgrade with a 50-megapixel OV50M sensor expected for selfies.
Among other details, the handset is rumoured to run on Qualcomm’s cutting-edge 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset similar to the rest of the Xiaomi 17 series.
More details regarding the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s official launch, price, and complete specifications are expected to surface in the coming weeks.
