Vivo has officially confirmed the launch of its upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Vivo Y500, scheduled for September 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM CST (4:30 PM IST) in China. The device is being positioned as a long-lasting and ultra-durable option in the company’s Y-series lineup. Here’s what we know about the phone so far.
The Y500 will be equipped with an 8,200mAh battery, a significant jump from the 6,500mAh unit found in its predecessor. Vivo claims this is the longest-lasting battery life in the company’s history.
In terms of durability, the device is confirmed to feature IP69+/IP69/IP68 waterproof protection, making it the most water-resistant phone ever from Vivo. Additionally, it has earned the SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and impact resistance, along with passing military-standard environmental durability tests. Vivo says the phone has achieved “multiple breakthroughs in vivo history.”
The official teaser reveals a punch-hole display, dual rear cameras with a ring LED flash and three colour variants, which are Black, Blue, and Violet.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the vivo Y500 will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, a step up from the Dimensity 6300 used in its predecessor. The handset is expected to retain a 6.77-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, along with a 50MP primary rear camera, a secondary lens, and an 8MP front-facing camera.
Leaks further suggest that the Y500 will support 90W fast charging and weigh around 213 grams, balancing its massive battery with manageable portability.
Interestingly, the vivo Y500 could launch under different names in international markets. Reports indicate that it may debut as the vivo T5 or iQOO Z11 in India, following the brand’s recent strategy with the vivo Y400 and Y400 Pro.
While Vivo has yet to announce the official price of the Y500, more details are expected in the days leading up to its September 1 unveiling.
