Users were quick to question the company’s focus on higher megapixel counts and it made Boxiao took to Weibo to explain the imaging hardware and features of the Vivo X300 series in greater detail.

The Vivo X300 will debut with a 200-megapixel Samsung HPB primary sensor, accompanied by an upgraded telephoto lens. According to Boxiao, this setup will include a 50-megapixel Zeiss APO periscope telephoto camera powered by a custom Sony LYT-602 sensor.

The Zeiss T* coating helps reduce lens aberrations and boosts clarity, while features like telephoto macro mode make the setup versatile for both portraits and long-distance shots.

The Vivo X300 Pro, on the other hand, will feature a Sony LYT-828 gimbal-grade primary sensor. This 50-megapixel sensor has a large 1/1.28-inch size with an f/1.57 aperture and advanced stabilisation rated at CIPA 5.5 level.

Built on a 22nm low-power process, it enhances video capture efficiency, while Hybrid Frame-HDR technology pushes dynamic range up to 100dB, delivering brighter and more balanced results even in challenging lighting conditions.

Boxiao has not yet confirmed details of the ultra-wide sensors on either device. However, leaks suggest that both the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro could feature a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 or JN5 ultra-wide lens.
