Two new JioPhones have received the BIS certification, and the devices are expected to launch soon in India.
Reliance will be hosting its Annual General Meeting on August 28, where it will also announce Jio’s upcoming business plans. These two new phones could be part of Jio’s aim to launch budget-friendly 5G devices in India.
The phones were spotted on the BIS portal by tipster Mukul Sharma on Twitter.
The BIS listing shows two new phones under the Jio branding.
The model numbers of the upcoming JioPhones are JBV161W1 and JBV162W1 respectively.
Jio Phones Made In India
The listing was shared first by tipster Mukul Sharma in a tweet.
The listing suggests that the Jio phones are being manufactured in Noida for India.
The Jio Phone 5G was earlier spotted on BIS in December last year , and was being manufactured in India.
It is still not confirmed whether these two model numbers, JBV161W1 and JBV162W1, belong to a final variant of the Jio Phone 5G or are completely new devices.
The Jio Phone 5G leaked earlier is expected to launch by the end of this month and is rumoured to be the cheapest 5G phone in the country.
Jio Bharat 4G Feature Phone was launched last month. Jio Bharat phone is priced at Rs 999 in India. The 4G smart feature phone comes in two colour options: Red and Blue.
Earlier a prototype unit of the upcoming Jio Phone 5G was spotted on Twitter.
The images shown in the tweets suggested that the JioPhone 5G will have a plastic back, with dual cameras at the back.
The phone also had a 5G branding with a speed test result showing 5G connectivity on the phone.
It also suggested that the phone will come with Unisoc 5G or Dimensity 700 processor.
The phone will feature a 13MP primary camera, with a 2MP secondary camera.
The selfie camera is expected to be a 5MP sensor.
Reliance will be streaming its AGM Event on its YouTube channel. The event is scheduled for August 28 at 2:00 PM.
Another phone with Jio branding was seen on Geekbench but it was with a different model number than the jio phone spotted on BIS Today.
The Geekbench listing phone had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor with 4GB of RAM.
The JioPhone 5G is expected to come with:

* A Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset.
* 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.
* A dual-camera setup on the back, featuring a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP macro sensor, complemented by an 8MP front-facing camera.
* A 5000mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging capabilities.
* Security and additional connectivity are not overlooked, with a side-fitted fingerprint sensor, microSD card slot, and dual SIM support being integral parts of the package.
The device is being touted as the cheapest 5G-capable smartphone to grace the country’s market.
A few years back, the original JioPhone had snagged the title of the most budget-friendly 4G ready device in India. Something similar is expected from Jio’s latest smartphone offering.
In addition to the phone, the spotlight will also be on Jio’s new 5G services, possibly announced during the same event.
Jio has been providing complimentary 5G network access through the “Jio Welcome Offer,” which suggests the company is gearing up for something bigger.
These plans are currently priced exactly at the rates of 4G plans. Perhaps at AGM, separate packs exclusive to 5G will be announced.
Apart from that Jio had also introduced the Air Fiber 5G hotspot device at the last AGM, a tool designed to bring ultra-fast 5G speeds into homes and offices.
