Tata Electronics’ annual iPhone production exceeded Rs 40,000 crore in 2024 and marked a 180% year-on-year growth, according to a recent Business Standard report.

Tata Electronics acquired Wistron’s iPhone manufacturing facility in Narsapura Karnataka for $125 million in October 2023. The company since acquiring that facility now contributes approximately 26% of India’s total iPhone output.

Tata Electronics To Move Partnerships Beyond Apple

In addition to its partnership with Apple, Tata Electronics is reportedly in discussions with Chinese smartphone giants Xiaomi and Oppo as part of its strategy to diversify and scale its operations in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) sector.

“Tata Electronics has realised that in order to be a top player in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) ecosystem, it has to focus on scale now,” industry sources told The Economic Times.

“They are actively engaged in discussions with leading Chinese smartphone manufacturers including Xiaomi and Oppo to initiate component manufacturing,” one source added.
