The Glyph LED lights are actually part of the upper cover for the motherboard. Inside, the main board houses the cameras, including the primary sensor, which features optical image stabilisation (OIS). To help with water resistance, the connectors on the main board have rubber gaskets, and the USB port on the sub-board has a similar protective gasket. For heat dissipation, the phone uses thermal paste and a copper vapour chamber, which is noticeably larger than the one in last year’s Nothing Phone (2a). The battery has two pull tabs and removing them in the correct order is important (they’re labelled 1 and 2 to guide the process). If you need to replace the screen, you’ll have to open the phone from the back and remove the battery first to access the display cable. At the end of the teardown, PBKReviews gives the Nothing Phone (3a) a 4.5 out of 10 repairability score (with 10 being the easiest to repair and 1 being the hardest). The highest score comes from battery replacement, which earns 1.5 out of 2 points. The lowest scores are in design (organisation and repair time) and screen replacement, both receiving just 0.5 out of 2 points.
