HIGHLIGHTS * Tech giant Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 at WWDC 2023, as per tradition. * iOS 17 is expected to prioritise enhancing performance and stability. * In iOS 17, more features are expected to be included in Dynamic Island. Ahead of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, where Apple is expected to unveil its Mixed Reality Headset, a new Mac Pro and the much-anticipated iOS 17, a new leak hints at some of the features of the upcoming iOS 17. The WWDC event is scheduled to take place between June 5th to June 9th but ahead of that, a Twitter user has come up with a list of the alleged features of iOS 17. It should be noted that the company has not yet officially revealed any of the features of the upcoming iOS, and while this particular user was on point with a couple of features related to Dynamic Island prior to its announcement in June last year, the new leak should still be taken with a pinch of salt. A very vague iOS 17 Leak The leak comes from the user “analyst941” on Twitter accurately shared certain details about the Dynamic Island ahead of last year’s iPhone 14 Pro launch. Still, they don’t have an established multi-year track record of accurate leaks. The vagueness of this rumor also makes us question it more than usual. With that said, we’d treat this rumor with a decent amount of skepticism for the time being. In a thread on Twitter, the source outlined a rundown of “everything” they “know” about “what’s new in iOS 17.” First and foremost, the source claims that iOS 17 will support all models of the iPhone that are supported by iOS 16. There are apparently still questions about iPadOS 17’s device compatibility, however, and the source says iPads powered by the A9 and A10 Fusion chips could be dropped this year. Apple will reportedly make a final decision about this sometime in the next two to three weeks. “Performance, efficiency, stability, and long-term support for older devices are the main features of this update,” according to the leak. Among the “new features” in development are: * Additional settings for the iPhone 14 Pro’s Always-On Display * Additional filters for Focus modes * “Changes and additional options” for managing notifications * Custom Accessibility Mode * Car Key “improvements” and “more car implementations into the Wallet app” * UI changes to the Health app, including changes to the “Favorites” interface * “Heavily improved” features for Search and Spotlight * “An absolute behemoth of ARKit API’s/frameworks” * “The Dynamic Island will do a lot more” * “Camera app changes; these were initially planned for the iPhone 14 Pro release, and MAY only be implemented into iPhone 15’s OS, rather than all iOS 17 devices.” Finally, and perhaps most notably, the leak suggests that Apple is testing “active widgets” that will “bring one-tap buttons, sliders, and more” to help make widgets more “dynamic.” This feature, however, is said to be “in testing, but not confirmed by any means.” Unfortunately, that’s about all this leak offers up. It outlines some broad areas on which Apple is allegedly focusing with iOS 17, but it doesn’t offer many specific details. As we said earlier, treat it with a grain of salt. Apple will officially announce iOS 17 in less than two months at WWDC 2023. iOS 17 features: What to Expect? According to the source, iOS 17 will be compatible with all iPhone models that are currently supported by iOS 16. There are still uncertainties regarding the compatibility of devices with iPadOS 17. It is possible that iPads that are powered by A9 and A10 Fusion chips may not be supported this year. The source claimed that there will be more Focus Mode filters in Settings along with notification changes and additional options in Settings. It is also mentioned that custom accessibility settings will provide complete control over the user interface and layout, particularly for older individuals or younger children. Other changes include: * CarKey improvements * Health app UI changes * Camera app changes * Improved Search/Spotlight * More features will be included in the Dynamic Island As per a recent report, iOS 17 will prioritise enhancing performance and stability, suggesting that a revamped Control Center may be among the most prominent updates. An earlier report indicated that the original plan for iOS 17 was to release a bug fix update. However, later plans were changed and now it is expected that the update will bring new features, including an updated CarPlay experience, adjustments to Siri, the ability to sideload and access rival app stores, support for Apple's mixed-reality headset, as well as other enhancements and new features. Camera app changes could be limited to iPhone 15 Apple is preparing several changes and improvements to the Camera app as a part of iOS 17. However, the leaker says these changes might remain exclusive to the iPhone 15 series and may not make it to all iOS 17 compatible devices. The source of this leak previously accurately revealed information about the iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island. So, the source has a relatively accurate track record, though it is always best to take such rumors with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned for more updates about the upcoming iOS 17. FAQ's on iOS 17 1) iOS 17 to get a redesigned Control Center? Details Ans) Control Center was first introduced with iOS 7, and it lets users quickly access Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth settings, as well as media controls and shortcuts to some native apps. According to an anonymous leaker in the MacRumors Forums, the Control Center will be completely redesigned in iOS 17. There are no details about what exactly will change with the new Control Center, but presumably, Apple will let users further customize it. Currently, users can only rearrange some of the Control Center items and add more shortcuts from a preset list of options. If true, this will be the first time Apple has redesigned Control Center since iOS 11 in 2017, when the company made it a full-screen menu in preparation for the iPhone X that year. The report comes from the same leaker who shared precise details about the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro weeks before the official announcement of the new iPhones. At first, Bloomberg had reported that iOS 17 would be a minor update focused on improving the overall stability of the system. However, journalist Mark Gurman said last month that Apple changed its strategy and asked engineers to add features much requested by iPhone and iPad users. Also according to rumors, Apple may drop support for iPhone 8, iPhone X, and the first-generation iPad Pro with iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Apple will officially announce iOS 17 at WWDC 2023, as well as other major OS versions, like watchOS 10, tvOS 17, and macOS 14. We also expect that WWDC will be the event where Apple unveils the long-awaited headset project. WWDC 2023 will take place June 5-9, with a special opening event in Apple Park. 2) What does the control centre of the iPhone suggest ? Ans) The menu provides iPhone users with convenient access to controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, volume, and many other system functions. On the iPhone X and newer, Control Center can be opened by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen. Introduced with iOS 7, Control Center turns 10 this year. On a speculative basis, Apple could make Control Center more customizable and revamp the menu’s design after six years of minimal changes, but exact changes if any remain to be seen. While the forum member has a proven track record, this rumor has yet to be corroborated by other sources, and Apple’s plans are subject to change. 3) What’s happening on the Apple dropping iOS 17 on iPhone devices ? Ans) iPhones and other Apple devices typically run the latest operating system versions without problems for at least five years before some features become unsupported. That’s a big part of the reason why Apple hardware has such a high resale value. But with iOS 17, a maintenance update with only a handful of new features, the Cupertino technology giant is understood to remove support for certain older iPhones and iPads powered by the A10 chip for reasons dealing with security. 7) iOS 17 should mark the end of the road for Which devices:? Ans) * iPhone X * iPhone 8 * iPhone 8 Plus * 9.7-inch iPad (1st generation) * 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st generation) * iPad (5th generation) The only exceptions being (will run ¡OS 17): * iPad (6th generation) * iPad (7th generation) * 10.5-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation) * 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation) 8) Which are the four devices that run Apple A10 Fushion or A10x Fushion chip ?
