While it sticks to Huawei’s familiar Star Ring design, the Ultra version has a more refined look with smoother curves between the camera ring and the back panel. There’s a circular camera module on the back with four cameras that are a main sensor, a telephoto lens, an ultra-wide lens and a Red Maple Colour sensor, a feature previously seen on the Mate 70 series. This Red Maple Colour sensor is a multi-spectral image sensor that captures more accurate lighting and improves colour reproduction. According to Huawei, this sensor helps the Nova 14 Ultra deliver true-to-life photos and videos, and it’s being positioned as a standout feature for the phone in the mid-to-premium category.
