Highlights Budget-friendly with premium features 40ms ultra-low latency for seamless gaming Up to 50 hours of impressive battery life Robust build quality with a sleek design As an avid gamer, I always look out for gaming peripherals that are likely enhance my experience. Recently, I got my hands on the Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones that have just been announced for Rs 1,199 and I must say, these earphones are full of features that cater to gamers. And what helps the case is that they are very budget-friendly, so people don't have to dig too deep into their pockets. In this Boult Y1 review, I have discussed the product in detail and have looked at its sound quality, EQ settings, dedicated app functionality, build quality, design, latency, fit, and more to help you in making an informed choice. Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones: Unboxing Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones: Unboxing Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones: Unboxing Video Boult Y1: Key Specs Boult Y1: Key Specs 10mm drivers Bluetooth 5.4 Up to 50 hours of playtime IPX5 water-resistant 40ms ultra-low latency Dual device connectivity Type-C fast charging Cost is Rs 1,199 Boult Y1: Pros and Cons Pros Cons Budget-friendly gaming earphones No Active Noise Cancellation Excellent sound quality for games Limited iPhone connectivity Stylish RGB lighting design ENC could be better Boult Y1: Sound Quality and Features Boult Y1: Sound Quality and Features The Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones produce great sound quality thanks to their mega 10mm drivers. The audio output is clear, with a good balance between bass, mids, and highs. However, the earbuds are not going to be the audiophile's first choice. There are no ANC on this headset, but there is an ENC option that works a bit half-heartedly to block out ambient noise. When gaming, I could distinctly hear the footsteps of enemies and the subtle ambient sounds, which gave me a competitive advantage. This is where the company is trying. The BoomX Technology ensures that explosions and gunfire are loud and impactful, making the gaming experience all the more immersing. I think gamers will appreciate it even more when they are immersed in competitive shooters like BGMI and PUBG. Budget-friendly with premium features Within the Boult Amp application, you've got several different EQ settings for different scenarios: enhance your bass when playing action games, clear mids when playing strategy, and so on. The custom EQ settings allow you to tweak the sound profile exactly the way you want it for the best gaming experience in any game genre. One of the most significant features of the Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones is the ultra-low latency at 40ms. During gaming sessions, I did not see any delay between the action on the screen and the audio. That low latency makes all the difference in quick gameplay and is what makes games fun for players. I think that Boult has nailed that down pretty well. Boult Y1: Dedicated App Functionality The Boult Amp app is very easy to use and comes with a number of added features that enrich the gaming experience. You can easily switch between different EQ presets, check battery levels, and update the earphones' firmware. The app even provides real-time latency monitoring, which is quite useful for competitive gamers. Could the app have been a bit better in terms of interface? I think so. Also, it does not particularly help the fact that earbuds have not-so-great connectivity with iPhones, segregating a growing segment of users. Boult Y1: Build Quality and Design Boult Y1: Build Quality and Design The build quality of the Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones is robust. These earphones are made of high-quality material and feel very premium; at the same time, they are IPX5 water-resistant, so you can wear them at the gym or during light rain. While the construction of the earphones is very solid, it leaves a bit to be desired. I also liked the Type-C fast charging port that adds to the modernity and usability of the device. The Boult Y1 earphones have a sleek design with a gaming aesthetic. Available in Black Metal, Electric Red, and Glacier Blue, they have bright RGB lights that add a cool element to the visuals. 40ms ultra-low latency for seamless gaming The design has been inspired by Spider-Man; hence, they look unique and stylish. The earphones come with multiple ear tip sizes, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for different ear shapes. They sit snugly in my ear, providing good noise isolation without discomfort during extended gaming sessions. The light design also does not cause fatigue even after hours of use. Additional Features Additional Features Dual Device Connectivity: The ability to pair with two devices simultaneously is incredibly convenient. I could easily switch between my phone and gaming console without re-pairing. Battery Life: With up to 50 hours of playtime, the Boult Y1 earphones have an impressive battery life. The Lightning Boult Type-C fast charging provides 150 minutes of playtime with just a 10-minute charge, which is perfect for quick top-ups. Voice Assistant: The integration of Siri and Google Assistant allows for hands-free control, making it easy to manage calls and music without interrupting gameplay. Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC): As mentioned before, the quad mics with Zen Mode ENC ensure clear in-game communication by reducing background noise, which is essential for team-based games. Boult Y1: Battery Life Boult Y1: Battery Life Another impressive aspect of the Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones is their decent battery life. These earphones offer up to 50 hours of total playtime, which is more than enough for multiple long gaming sessions without needing a recharge. The fast charging feature, known as Lightning Boult Type-C, is particularly noteworthy. With just a 10-minute charge, you can get up to 150 minutes of playtime, making it incredibly convenient for quick top-ups between games. Final Verdict Final Verdict Overall, the Boult Y1 Gaming Earphones are a fantastic choice for gamers looking for high-quality audio, low latency, and a range of features that enhance the gaming experience. With their robust build, stylish design, and advanced functionalities, they offer excellent value for their price. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a competitive player, these earphones will elevate your gaming sessions. 5 Reasons to Buy 5 Reasons to Buy Great sound quality for gaming: The 10mm drivers deliver clear, balanced audio with impactful bass, mids, and highs, enhancing the gaming experience. Connectivity issues with iPhones: The Boult Y1 earphones may face connectivity challenges with iPhones, potentially affecting the user experience for Apple device owners. ENC is not highly effective: The Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) feature works to some extent, but it may not effectively block out all ambient noise, limiting its utility in loud settings.
