While Samsung seems to be fine-tuning the camera system, one key part looks like it’s staying the same, leaving many feeling a sense of familiarity. According to a GalaxyClub report shared by SamMobile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will once again come with a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. This is the same setup found in both the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the S25 Ultra. The sensor itself is a 1/2.52-inch unit with 0.7µm pixels, phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), and optical image stabilisation (OIS), a reliable setup, but not new. This might disappoint fans who were hoping for a bigger upgrade, especially after earlier rumours suggested Samsung might switch to a single 200MP ISOCELL telephoto sensor. As of now, it seems like Samsung is trying to cut costs where possible, likely to balance out the expense of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “Elite 2” chip and keep U.S. pricing competitive despite rising tariffs. There’s still a bit of mystery, though. The second zoom lens hasn’t been revealed yet, but possibly offering 3.5x or even 8x zoom.
