In the beta update that is currently available on the Google Play Store, the app is testing a feature that allows users to apply effects and filters while using the camera. Previously, these effects were only available during video calls. However, now users would be able to use these effects and filters for photos and videos. It will allow users to easily switch between different filters with just a tap. These filters include various editing options such as skin-smoothing for getting that perfect selfie or a background-changing feature that was earlier limited to video calls. This means users would now be able to blur out the background or replace it with virtual scenes. As of now, these in-camera effects are only available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android.
