Apple has also introduced Ceramic Shield 2 protection on both the front and back, offering 3x better scratch resistance than before. According to Apple, this makes the iPhone Air the most durable iPhone to date. A distinctive new design element is a rear plateau that spans the entire width of the phone, housing the rear camera, front camera, speaker, and Apple Silicon. On the front, there’s an 18MP camera with Centre Stage, which uses AI to automatically adjust the frame and expand the field of view depending on how many people are in the shot. A unique square sensor allows for four composition sizes, eliminating the need to rotate the device for landscape selfies. The phone also introduces dual-capture video, combining footage from the front and rear cameras. Stabilisation keeps the subject steady in the front camera, while the rear camera offers zoom capabilities. Under the hood, the iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip, featuring a six-core CPU and a new GPU with second-gen Dynamic Caching, doubled math rates, and unified image compression. For connectivity, Apple has added the C1X custom modem, which is twice as fast, alongside a custom-designed N1 chip that integrates Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Thread.
