At first glance at the CAD renders, the Xperia 1 VII doesn’t look too different from its predecessor. It still has a 6.5-inch screen with thicker bezels on the top and bottom. The top bezel houses a 12MP selfie camera.
The phone is slightly wider and thicker than before, measuring 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5mm (or 11mm at the camera bump).
The power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor, volume controls, and a dedicated camera shutter button are on the right side, while the left side remains plain. A 3.5mm headphone jack, a rare feature in modern flagships, sits at the top along with a microphone.
The bottom of the phone has a SIM/microSD slot, a USB-C port and another microphone. Dual front-facing speakers aim to deliver high-quality sound.
On the back, there’s a triple-camera setup in a vertical layout:
Earlier rumours suggested that all three cameras might feature Sony’s flagship Exmor T sensors, but this latest report contradicts that claim. There are also additional cutouts near the cameras, possibly for laser autofocus or extra microphones.
Under the hood, the Xperia 1 VII is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. The battery is rumored to be 5,000 mAh or larger, supporting 30W fast charging.
After switching to 1080p OLED in the Xperia 1 VI as a cost-cutting measure, Sony is reportedly bringing back the 4K OLED display in the Xperia 1 VII. The screen will maintain its 19.5:9 aspect ratio and support a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is expected to launch with Android 15.
The Sony Xperia 1 VII is rumoured to start at $1,399, making it one of the most expensive Android flagships. However, since these details are based on early leaks, it’s best to wait for more concrete information as we get closer to the official launch.
