Samsung might be getting ready to show off something completely new at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9th, 2025. Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, there’s a good chance we’ll also see a new premium tri-fold phone, possibly called the Galaxy G Fold.

Ahead of the big launch, a fresh leak from a One UI 8 build has given us a sneak peek at this upcoming tri-fold design. The Android Authority team has found animations within the latest One UI 8 build to give us a pretty solid idea of what the phone might look like. Here’s what we know.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone Design

The animations within the latest One UI 8 build show tri-fold design features two hinges, allowing it to fold both the leftmost and rightmost screens inward. It is much like Samsung’s earlier Flex G prototype. This means the device can open up to reveal a much larger inner screen compared to regular foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or 7.

There is also a dark variant of the same animation, which gives a better look.

Here’s what stands out from the leaked animations –

  • The rightmost screen has a punch-hole camera.
  • The middle part of the back is also a screen and includes another punch hole.
  • Samsung seems to have ditched the under-display camera this time.
  • The left part of the back has a triple-camera setup, which means you could be looking at four rear cameras in total.
  • The front left section doesn’t have a display. It’s just a blank panel.
  • You fold the left side first, then the right side folds over it.
  • The hinges are of different sizes, likely to support a more secure folding action.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold – What Else Do We Know?

As for other specs and rumours, the Galaxy G Fold is said to feature a 9.96-inch display, weigh 298 grams, and measure 6.54 inches in height when folded. With its complex folding mechanism, it might end up being thicker than Samsung’s current foldables.

There’s also mention of another Samsung folding concept, the Flex S. This S-shaped design also has two hinges and three parts. In this one, the left screen folds outward, and the right screen folds inward, both over the middle section. It’s a bit like Huawei’s Mate XT.

One thing to note is that even though these phones are being called tri-folds, they don’t actually fold in three separate places. Because of this, Samsung might not use the term “tri-fold” at all. The animation files Android Authority found are labelled “Multifold 7”, though it’s unclear if that’s just an internal name or something we’ll see in marketing.

At the end of the day, nothing is official yet from Samsung’s end yet. So, we’ll have to wait until Samsung’s announcement to know for sure.
