Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra – Everything We Knew Before the Launch

Samsung is all set to introduce its next-generation foldable smartphones at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22. Leaks and rumours, however, have revealed the complete specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. That’s not all. The marketing renders of both smartphones also surfaced online recently revealing key design details. Here’s everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable flagship devices before the launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 – Specifications (Expected)

According to a report by WinFuture, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a wider design compared to earlier Galaxy Z Fold models. The device is tipped to sport a 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2,448 x 1,848 pixels, a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. On the outside, it is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with a resolution of 1,248 x 1,972 pixels and support for a 120Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the foldable is said to include a 50MP primary rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.9 aperture. It is also expected to feature two 10MP selfie cameras, one on each display, both with f/2.2 apertures.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. It is expected to be available with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage as the base configuration, while 512GB and 1TB storage options are also expected. The 1TB variant is tipped to come with 16GB RAM.

The smartphone is also expected to support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It is said to pack a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to measure 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.5mm, weigh 201g, and carry an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. It is expected to launch in Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Pistachio colour options.

As per the report, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could start at €1,999 in Europe.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to arrive as Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone for 2026. According to the leak, it will feature a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, while the main 8-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is tipped to offer a resolution of 2,504 x 2,256 pixels. Both displays are expected to support refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Unlike the standard model, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is said to retain the taller and narrower design seen on previous Galaxy Z Fold smartphones. The device is also expected to feature an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.

On the camera front, the Ultra variant is tipped to offer a more advanced setup than the standard model. It is expected to feature a 200MP primary camera with OIS and an f/1.7 aperture, a 50MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.9 aperture, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies and video calls, the phone is also said to include two 10MP front-facing cameras with f/2.2 apertures.

The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and is tipped to arrive in three configurations such as 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 1TB storage. It is also expected to use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Battery capacity is said to increase to 5,000mAh, while 45W wired fast charging will be supported. The report also mentions support for wireless charging, although the charging speed has not been disclosed. Previous rumours had claimed that both Galaxy Z Fold 8 series smartphones would support 20W fast wireless charging.

Connectivity options are expected to include 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is tipped to be available in Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow, and Violet Shadow colour options. It is also said to measure just 4.1mm in thickness when unfolded and weigh 218g.

According to the leak, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could be priced at €2,199 in Europe.
