Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 to Feature Innovative Dual-Screen Translation

  • New translation feature uses both inner and outer displays
  • Function operates in Flex Mode for two-way conversations
  • Part of Samsung’s expanding Galaxy AI suite
  • Official unveiling set for 10 July with pre-launch reservations open

Samsung is developing a new translation feature for its forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 devices.

This feature utilises both displays on the foldable phones, echoing a similar function introduced by Google on the Pixel Fold last year.

Dual-Screen Translation

Galazy Z Flip 6 might be getting a new interpreter mode.

Google’s Pixel Fold introduced an “Interpreter Mode” that allows users to conduct two-way conversations without turning the device around.

The main display shows one language, while the outer display shows the translation.

Samsung’s approach appears to be similar. Leaked marketing materials, shared by Evan Blass, reveal an update to Samsung’s existing “interpreter” mode.

This update enables two-way conversations to appear on both the inner and outer displays of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.

How It Works

Interpreter mode on the Pixel Fold

Samsung’s version of the feature operates in Flex Mode, requiring the device to be partially folded. It also functions specifically in “Conversation Mode”

This differs from Google’s implementation, which works when the device is fully unfolded.

Galaxy AI Integration

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are expected to include the same Galaxy AI features

This new translation feature is part of Samsung’s broader Galaxy AI suite, which has been a focal point for the company’s recent devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are expected to include the same Galaxy AI features found on the Galaxy S24 series.

Launch and Availability

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders are coming out thick and fast.

Samsung is set to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 on 10 July. Pre-launch reservations are currently open on Samsung’s website.

Reservation Incentives

Samsung is offering incentives for early reservations:

  • $50 credit for reservation
  • Potential savings of up to $1,500
  • Entry into a sweepstakes for a $5,000 Samsung credit

It’s worth noting that reservations are free and do not obligate purchase.

Market Implications

This development highlights the ongoing competition in the foldable phone market, with manufacturers continually adapting and improving features.

Samsung’s decision to implement a feature similar to Google’s suggests a recognition of its usefulness and appeal to consumers.
