The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series launch is expected in early July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. And while a lot is already known about the upcoming smartwatch, the latest buzz suggests Samsung is sticking with its own Exynos W1000 chip, the same one used in last year’s model.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster @TheGalox_ revealed the key detail about the upcoming Samsung watch. Speaking of the chipset, tipster @TheGalox wrote, “So good it has to be used again. Galaxy Watch8 series will be powered by the Exynos W1000. A year after its release it is still the fastest smartwatch chip.”

Tipster also delves into the specs of the chipset in the post. The Exynos W1000 is still one of the top performers in the smartwatch space. It’s powered by a penta-core CPU setup, with four ARM Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.5 GHz and one Cortex-A78 core reaching up to 1.6 GHz.

It also packs a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU and fast LPDDR5 RAM. Plus, it’s built on an efficient 3nm GAA process, making it both powerful and power-efficient.

As for the rest of the Watch8 series, it looks like the Classic model is making a comeback. Leaked renders show the Galaxy Watch8 Classic with a “squircle” case design that’s quite similar to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It seems both the standard Watch8 and the Classic version will share this new case shape.

Reported specs for the Watch8 Classic include a 46/47mm body and a 1.5-inch screen, giving it overall dimensions of 46 x 46.5 x 14.2 mm. It’s expected to house a 450 mAh battery and run on One UI 8 Watch, which will likely be based on Wear OS 6.
