While we patiently wait for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch, the rumour mill has already started to churn out leaks and reports about the Galaxy S25 and even the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
These leaks reveal a roadmap of Samsung’s camera advancements that could bring forth a rather huge shift in the South Korean electronics giant.
The journey begins with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, rumoured to feature a significant upgrade to its periscope camera.
As mentioned in previous reports, this upcoming new model is expected to sport a 50MP sensor with 0.7µm pixels, replacing the current 10MP, 1.12µm pixel sensor in the S23.
This upgrade could offer users the flexibility to choose between high-resolution zooming and pixel binning for improved image quality
The Galaxy S25 Ultra, as per leaker Revengus, seems poised for a landmark upgrade.
Not only will the main lens receive a new design, but the ultra-wide module is also set to be upgraded to a 50MP sensor.
This marks a considerable jump from the 12MP sensor in the S23 Ultra and potentially also on the S24 Ultra.
Perhaps the most intriguing development is the periscope camera’s rumoured capability to offer variable focal lengths – a feature currently unique to Sony.
This enhancement could significantly boost the quality of zoom shots, leveraging optical zoom to its full potential before switching to digital zoom.
The most dramatic upgrade is reserved for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The main camera’s sensor is expected to grow significantly, from the current 1/1.3” 0.6µm to a much larger 1.1” 0.7µm, while maintaining its 200MP resolution.
This change, inching closer to the 1-inch format, represents a substantial leap, that is bound to drastically improve the Galaxy S series’ photographic pursuits.
While Revengus has a history of accurate leaks, it is hard to predict a smartphone’s capabilities this far into the future.
Advise our readers to take this information with a grain of salt.
Revengus has also recently detailed the storage options for the upcoming of Galaxy S24 series, with the standard Galaxy S24 rumoured to be available in two variants.
The first variant is expected to feature 8GB of RAM coupled with 128GB of storage, while the second variant might offer the same RAM capacity but with an increased storage of 256GB.
Stepping up, the Galaxy S24+ is anticipated to cater to the more power-hungry users, starting with a configuration of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and another more expansive option of 12GB RAM coupled with 512GB of storage.
For those seeking the pinnacle of Samsung’s offering, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumoured to debut with three impressive storage configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and a top-tier 12GB+1TB model.
