Samsung is gearing up for its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2026, which is expected to take place in the coming weeks. At the event, the South Korean tech giant is set to unveil its next-generation Galaxy S26 lineup including the standard, Plus, and Ultra models. While Samsung usually reserves its other flagship announcements for late Q3, early signs of what’s coming next have already started appearing online.
According to a report by Smartprix, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ have been spotted on the GSMA IMEI database well ahead of their official debut. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is listed with the model number SM-X946B, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ carries the model number SM-X846B.
Interestingly, the database does not currently mention a standard Galaxy Tab S12. Last year, Samsung skipped the Plus variant with the Galaxy Tab S11 series and launched only the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra.
This time, the company may be adjusting its naming strategy again by introducing only the Plus and Ultra models. That said, the regular Galaxy Tab S12 could still appear in the IMEI listings at a later stage.
Samsung’s upcoming tablets aren’t the only devices to surface early. The GSMA database has also revealed entries for two new smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 9 has appeared with the model number SM-L345U, while the next-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is listed as SM-L716U.
As is typical with IMEI certifications, these listings do not disclose any hardware specifications or features. However, their presence confirms that Samsung has begun early-stage preparations for launching these devices.
Historically, Samsung products tend to be officially announced around six to seven months after first appearing in the IMEI database. If this pattern holds, the Galaxy Tab S12 series, along with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, could debut at Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year.
Samsung usually hosts this event in August or September, making late Q3 a likely window for the launch of its next flagship tablets and smartwatches.
