Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A08, its latest budget smartphone and successor to last year’s Galaxy A07. The phone had already been spotted in Google’s systems a few weeks ago and Samsung has now officially introduced it. The Galaxy A08 comes with a large battery, a MediaTek chipset and expandable storage. It also runs Android 16 out of the box and is promised long-term software support.

The smartphone is already available in Ukraine. Listings for the Galaxy A08 have also appeared on Samsung’s websites in Serbia and South Africa. The phone is expected to reach more markets over the coming weeks and months.

As for price, the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at 10,699 Ukrainian hryvnia, which is approximately $239.

Samsung Galaxy A08 4G – Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A08 features a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with an Infinity-U notch. Unlike phones with a punch-hole camera, the 8-megapixel selfie camera is placed inside a waterdrop-style notch.

The phone is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which Samsung has also used in several of its recent budget smartphones. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The Galaxy A08 comes with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded up to 2TB using the microSD card slot.

On the software side, the Galaxy A08 runs Android 16 with One UI 8. Samsung is promising six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the smartphone.

For photography, the phone has a dual rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor featuring an f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. An LED flash is also included for low-light photography. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the side-mounted power button, while the phone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired earphones.

The Galaxy A08 is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging. Samsung does not provide a charger in the box, meaning buyers will need to use their own USB-C adapter. The phone also carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance.

For connectivity, the Galaxy A08 supports dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz network support, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS and a USB Type-C port.

The phone measures 167.4 x 77.4 x 8.0mm and weighs 197 grams.
