Redmi appears to be preparing to expand its smartphone portfolio with a brand-new ‘R-series’. The company may soon introduce Redmi R70 and Redmi R70m, both of which have now surfaced on the China Telecom website. This is the first time a Redmi R-series smartphone has been spotted online. Here’s what we know about the upcoming devices so far.
According to reports, the China Telecom listing shows two different names for the same device. So, it is believed that the smartphone could launch as the Redmi R70 in some regions and as the Redmi R70m in others.

The device is expected to be powered by the Unisoc UMS9632 processor, which can clock speeds of up to 2.2GHz. This chipset is specifically designed for affordable 5G smartphones indicating that the Redmi R70 / R70m will likely be positioned as a budget-friendly 5G offering.
In terms of memory and storage, the listing reveals five variants. The base model comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other configurations include 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 6GB RAM with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The top-end variant is listed with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The phone is also expected to be available in four colour options, which are Starry Night Black, Feather White, Cold Mist Blue and Feather Purple.
On the display front, the Redmi R70/R70m are said to feature a large 6.9-inch HD+ screen with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels. The panel is expected to use a waterdrop notch design. The device dimensions are listed as 171.56 × 79.47 × 8.2mm and it is said to weigh 211.5 grams.
The smartphone is also tipped to sport a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary lens. On the front, the device is expected to include an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. To support extended usage, the Redmi R70/R70m may pack a large 6300mAh battery.
The listing further suggests that the smartphone will run on Android 16 out of the box. Additional features are expected to include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, a speaker grille and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
While the exact launch timeline remains unclear, more details about the Redmi R70/Redmi R70m are expected to surface soon.
