Xiaomi is gearing up to take its affordable Redmi Pad SE tablet global after initially launching it in select European markets last year.
The company has now confirmed the budget Android slate will make its worldwide debut at Xiaomi’s ‘Smarter Living 2024’ event in India on April 23rd.
While pricing has yet to be revealed, the Redmi Pad SE is expected to continue Xiaomi’s strategy of undercutting rivals on cost.
When it first launched in Europe in August 2023, the tablet started from just €199 (around Rs 20,000) for the base 4GB/128GB model.
Despite its low price point, the Redmi Pad SE still promises appealing hardware for basic tablet tasks.
It sports an 11-inch full HD LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.
Xiaomi claims the large 8000mAh battery inside can last up to 14 hours of video playback or even 219 hours of music listening.
In standby mode, a mighty 43 days of uptime is promised between charges.
Useful features like split-screen multitasking and floating windows are also included.
The Indian variant to be unveiled on April 23rd looks set to be identical to its European counterpart.
It will be available in green, grey, and lavender colour options with the same sleek minimalist design and metal unibody construction.
While aimed at buyers on tighter budgets, the Redmi Pad SE seems well-equipped to handle tasks like casual gaming, media streaming, web browsing and light productivity.
Its global rollout should make it an enticing option in both developing and developed markets alike.
