Redmi appears to be gearing up to launch its next-generation Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 smartphone series across multiple markets. The upcoming lineups are expected to include several models and could make their debut during the third quarter of this year. Ahead of their anticipated launch, new Redmi smartphones have surfaced on certification platforms revealing fresh details about the devices.
Two Redmi smartphones carrying the model numbers 2606FRN72Y and 26012RN62Y have been spotted on Singapore’s IMDA certification database.
According to previous reports, the model number 2606FRN72Y is expected to launch as the Redmi 17 (4G). A report from XiaomiTime previously claimed that the smartphone will target the budget segment and could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset. The report also suggested that the device may be released in multiple regional variants including model numbers 2606FRN72Y and 2606FRN72L.
The same report further revealed that Redmi could introduce a Poco-branded version of the handset under the name Poco C95 Pro. The alleged Poco variant is said to carry model numbers 2606FPC72Y and 2606FPC72L.
The second IMDA-listed device bearing model number 26012RN62Y is believed to be related to the upcoming Redmi Note 17 series. Reports suggest that it may also arrive in additional variants including 26012RN62L and 26012RN62A. One of these model numbers was previously spotted in the GSMA database with the Redmi Note 17 branding. While its hardware specifications remain unknown, the smartphone is also expected to be a 4G-only device.
The Redmi Note 17 lineup has also received another certification ahead of launch. Recently, a smartphone carrying the model number 26081RA18G believed to belong to the Redmi Note 17 series was approved by the EEC certification authority.
Now, another device with model number 2607DRA18C has surfaced on China’s CMIIT certification platform. While its official marketing name has not yet been revealed, reports suggest that it could also be part of the Redmi Note 17 family.
Current speculation indicates that the Redmi Note 17 series may include three models named the Redmi Note 17, codenamed “Moscow”; the Redmi Note 17 Pro, codenamed “Brussels”; and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, codenamed “Chicago”. All three smartphones are reportedly expected to feature Snapdragon chipsets.
Based on currently available information, the Redmi 17 (4G), Redmi Note 17 (4G), and the Poco-branded counterpart of the Redmi 17 do not appear to have Indian variants. This suggests that these specific models may not launch in India.
However, reports indicate that both the Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 series could also include 5G versions, which are more likely to arrive in the Indian market later this year.
The Redmi Note 17 lineup is expected to debut in China sometime in July or August. Following its Chinese launch, Redmi is likely to introduce the series in international markets including India, shortly thereafter.
