Redmi has expanded its Redmi 17 series globally with the launch of the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G. The two smartphones come with a 6.9-inch 120Hz display, a large 7,500mAh battery and 50-megapixel dual rear cameras. Interestingly, both global models come with different hardware compared to the Redmi 17 5G that was recently introduced in China with the Unisoc T8300 chipset. Here’s everything you need to know about the global Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G.
Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G – Price and Availability
The Redmi 17 5G is already available in Malaysia. Its 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at MYR 769, which is approximately $190, while the 4GB+256GB version costs MYR 869, or around $210. For the global market, the Redmi 17 5G starts at $249. Redmi has also listed 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB variants. The smartphone is available in Black, Deep Blue and Vivid Orange colour options.
The Redmi 17 4G, meanwhile, is listed globally in four configurations such as 4GB+128GB, 4GB+256GB, 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB. It is offered in White, Red and Green colours.
Xiaomi has not yet announced the rollout dates for individual regions. However, both the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G are expected to become available in additional markets soon.

Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G – Key Specifications
The Redmi 17 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, which is built using a 4nm process. It is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The phone also supports 5G, NFC and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
The Redmi 17 4G, meanwhile, gets the Helio G91-Ultra chipset along with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. It also supports Bluetooth 5.4.
Other than the chipset and a few connectivity and storage differences, both smartphones have almost the same hardware. They feature a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display can reach up to 825 nits in high brightness mode and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The phones also come with TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free viewing and circadian-friendly operation.
Both the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G are equipped with a 7,500mAh battery. The battery supports 45W fast charging as well as 22.5W wired reverse charging. For photography, both phones feature a 50-megapixel AI dual-camera setup on the back and an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
The smartphones run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
Other features include dual stereo speakers with up to 300% volume boost, an IP64-rated body, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Both phones support dual SIM functionality and include a microSD card slot. They also offer memory expansion of up to 12GB RAM.
