Redmi Note 12 4G and Redmi 12C are confirmed to launch in India at a special event on March 30th.
The former will arrive as a cheaper version of the same phone that debuted in the country earlier this year.
Redmi 12C, on the other hand, will come as a budget offering.
Now, ahead of the announcement, the Redmi 12C has been listed on Amazon, confirming its online availability.
There’s a microsite on the e-commerce platform which spills some beans on the specifications.
The microsite reveals the Redmi 12C will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which is claimed to be the fastest among the phones that are priced under Rs 10,000 and launched in 2023.
This is a good indication to suggest the Redmi 12C could come in a similar price range.
Xiaomi is hosting a new Redmi event later this week.
The company has confirmed the launch of two new budget smartphones at the March 30 event in India.
There will be the Redmi Note 12 4G, which will sit below the 5G variant launched earlier this year.
The second smartphone launching at the event on March 30 is the Redmi 12C.
Xiaomi has already launched the 12C in various global markets.
The Indian variant is likely to pack the same set of hardware. Now, Xiaomi has confirmed that the upcoming Redmi 12C will be available for purchase via Amazon India.
The Amazon India microsite also lists some of the key specifications of the upcoming Redmi phone.
In addition to this, the pricing details of the phone have been tipped as well.
Let’s take a look at the Redmi 12C’s expected price in India, specifications and other details known so far.
The Redmi 12C will be one of the most affordable smartphones from the brand in India. Xiaomi has confirmed the phone’s Amazon India availability.
The microsite also reveals that the 12C will be priced under Rs 10,000 in India.
One of the teaser images confirms that the device will feature a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC under the hood, claiming to be the fastest in the segment of phones launched in 2023 and priced under Rs 10,000 in India.
Another teaser image highlights the big display of the phone, which also is said to be the biggest in the segment.
The phone is also confirmed to sport a dual-camera setup on the back.
In addition to these details, Redmi has confirmed that the phone will launch in four colours in India. These will be purple, black, green and blue.
The Redmi 12C was launched in Indonesia for IDR 1,399,000 (roughly Rs 7,600).
The Chinese variant of the phone launched at the very end of December 2022 was priced at CNY 699 (roughly Rs 8,400).
Therefore, it is possible that the Indian price of the 12C could be priced around Rs 9,000 in India.
The phone is likely to launch with two storage options – 4GB + 64GB/ 128GB and 6GB + 128GB.
There is support for up to 5GB of virtual RAM as well.
Combined, the device will offer up to 11GB of RAM. There is also support for a microSD card slot to increase memory up to 1TB.
Redmi 12C will have a large 6.71-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie shooter, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate.
The phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity G85 SoC paired with up to 6GB RAM and probably 128GB storage that could be further expandable. There’s expandable 5GB RAM support as well.
The phone is likely to boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box and pack a 5000mAh battery with 10W charging support.
The Redmi 12C features dual cameras on the back, with a 50MP dual camera setup on the back and a 2MP secondary sensor. There could be a 5MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
The Redmi 12C can be seen in Blue, Black, Purple, and Green colour options. In addition to Amazon, the phone will be available via Mi.com, Mi Home stores and other offline outlets.
