Realme has been teasing its upcoming affordable flagship, the Realme Neo 8, in China over the past few days. Ahead of its official unveiling, the smartphone has now surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. Alongside this, Realme has officially confirmed the China launch date as well. The handset is expected to debut as the successor to the Realme Neo 7 launched in December 2024. Apart from the launch date, the company has also hinted at an important display-related detail.

Realme has announced on Weibo that the Neo 8 will be launched in China on January 12 at 2:30pm local time (12pm IST). Sharing an official teaser poster, the brand has also confirmed that the smartphone will feature a display sourced from Samsung Display.
As per earlier reports, the panel is expected to support a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

The Realme Neo 8 has appeared on Geekbench with the model number RMX8899, as revealed by X tipster Anvin. The listing confirms that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

Benchmark details reveal that the device is paired with 16GB of RAM and runs Android 16 out of the box. In terms of performance, the handset recorded a single-core score of 2,876 and a multi-core score of 9,245 on Geekbench 6.5, pointing towards flagship-level performance.
Realme has reportedly claimed the smartphone has crossed 3.58 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark.

Realme has already confirmed several aspects of the Neo 8 ahead of launch. The smartphone will be available in a Cyber Purple colour option and is teased to feature a transparent rear panel that reveals parts of its internal design. The rear design also includes Realme’s signature Awakening Halo lighting positioned near the camera module.
Leaks suggest that the Realme Neo 8 will sport a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. An ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor is also expected. The phone will likely have an LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
On the camera front, the Neo 8 is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup that includes a periscope telephoto lens. For selfies, it may house a 16-megapixel front camera.
The device is expected to pack a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. In terms of build, it could feature a metal frame combined with a glass back, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
