Qualcomm has introduced the latest addition to its 7-series chipset lineup, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Building on last year’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the new chip brings incremental performance improvements along with enhanced gaming capabilities.

Qualcomm has not confirmed the first device to feature the chipset. However, the Redmi Note 15 Pro series is set to launch in China on August 21 and it has been officially confirmed that the Note 15 Pro+ will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 – Key Specifications and Performance

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 continues with the 1+3+4 Kryo CPU configuration built on a 4nm process. The Prime Cortex-A720 core now clocks at 2.7GHz, an upgrade from the 2.5GHz on its predecessor. The three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8GHz remain unchanged.

Qualcomm claims a 7% improvement in CPU performance. The updated Adreno GPU is also rated for a 7% boost, with gaming-focused features like Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 providing sharper visuals and smoother performance management.

Display support has been expanded to cover ultra-wide panels with resolutions up to 2,900 x 1,300 at 144Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for gaming smartphones and handheld devices. The chipset also supports camera setups up to 200 megapixels and 4K video recording at 30fps, with HDR10 and HDR10+ formats.

On the AI front, the improved Hexagon NPU now supports models such as Llama 1B and Qwen 1B, enabling real-time translation and other advanced AI-driven functions. Connectivity features include sub-6GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and aptX Lossless audio. For memory and storage, the platform supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
