Poco has officially announced the India launch of its upcoming M-series smartphone, the Poco M8 5G. While the brand has been releasing subtle teasers about the upcoming launch on social media, it has now confirmed the launch date and time through a press release. The handset is confirmed to sport a slim 7.35mm profile design as revealed in recent teasers. Here’s all we know about the phone so far.
The Poco M8 5G will be launched in India on January 8. The launch event is scheduled for 12:00 pm IST and the smartphone will be available for purchase via Flipkart.
A dedicated microsite on the e-commerce platform has already revealed parts of the phone’s design, while promotional videos suggest a dual-tone rear panel combining matte and vegan leather finishes.
Poco has confirmed that the M8 5G will be just 7.35mm thick and weigh around 178g. The handset will come with a 50-megapixel AI-powered primary camera. At the back, it features a centrally aligned squircle-shaped camera module that houses two camera sensors along with an LED flash.
According to leaks, the Poco M8 5G could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 15 5G. If this turns out to be accurate, the phone may feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits peak brightness. The display is also expected to be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
In terms of performance, the device is likely to run on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
Just to recall, the Redmi Note 15 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup led by a 108-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel front camera. It also packs a 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging and 18W reverse charging. Reports suggest these specifications could carry over to the Poco M8 5G.
Poco has not yet revealed the official pricing of the Poco M8 5G.
