Oxygen OS 12 officially rolled out for OnePlus 8 Series and 9R

OnePlus has begun rolling out OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R, which is based on Android 12. The new software update is currently in ‘open beta,’ and the stable version will be available “soon”.

The most recent version of OxygenOS encountered issues in the past after users reported bugs as a result of the update. The new beta version of Android 12 for these OnePlus smartphones may also contain bugs, so regular users should wait for the stable version.

The OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 8 series is currently available in India and North America, while users in the European Union will need to complete “additional validation steps,” with more information expected soon. As per OnePlus changelog, Android 12 for OnePlus 9R is only available in India.

OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 9R users are getting these key Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 updates:

System

• Improved desktop icons with better textures, by making use of a design inspired by brand-new materials and uniting layers and lights
• Resolved the problem that background apps are closed abnormally in specific scenarios
• Resolved an issue with lens permissions when using third-party camera apps
• Resolved the issue where the screen would not respond when receiving notifications

Dark mode

• To get a more comfortable and personalized user experience, dark mode now supports three adjustable levels

Shelf

• A new Earphone Control Card with Bluetooth earphone one-click adjustment has been added
• New Card style options, making data contents more visually appealing and easier to read
• A new OnePlus Watch Card has been added to the Shelf, allowing you to quickly check your health stats
• Access to OnePlus Scout has been added that allows users to search multiple contents on their phone, such as Settings, Apps, Media Data, and so on

Work Life Balance

• Work Life Balance 2.0 now supports automatic Work/Life mode switching, based on Wi-Fi network, specific locations, and time, also bringing modified App notification profiles according to the personalization
• The feature of Work Life Balance is now accessible to all users, allowing them to switch between Work and Life mode effortlessly through quick settings

Gallery

• Now, Gallery lets you switch between diverse layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently identifying the best-quality pictures, and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the layout of gallery more attractive

Canvas AOD

• It brings you new diverse styles of colors and lines, for a more personalized experience of lock screen with inspiring visuals
• Optimized software algorithm and better face recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures
• Newly added multiple strokes and brushes and support for adjustment of color

Network

• Fixed the problem that unable to connect to Wi-Fi automatically
• Fixed the problem that wireless earphones cannot play sound when connecting Bluetooth in explicit situations

According to reports, users of the OnePlus 8, 8T, 8 Pro, and OnePlus 9R in select regions are reportedly receiving stable versions of Android 12 OxygenOS 12. More information from the company is awaited.
