OPPO is preparing a major international expansion for its flagship smartphone ranges, coupled with significant new investments in artificial intelligence capabilities.
The company showcased both its soon-to-launch product ranges and its artificial intelligence integration efforts at the recent AI strategy briefing in London.
OPPO has confirmed that it will reintroduce its ultra-premium Find X series of flagship smartphones in global markets, outside of China.
The last Find X phone to launch globally was the Find X5 series in 2022.
Earlier this year, OPPO introduced the Find X7 and the top-end Find X7 Ultra in China with outstanding dual periscope cameras.
The models remained exclusive to China, but now OPPO could introduce better global versions, which could even feature a special Find X7 Ultra Satellite edition.
In addition to the Find X series comeback, OPPO has also teased the upcoming global launch of its Reno 12 series of smartphones, which is going to happen later this month.
As the Reno 12 series of smartphones was launched in China just a few weeks back, the global versions are likely to have similar hardware configurations.
As a big step, OPPO also announced that generative AI capabilities will be coming to all the smartphones across its price segments by the end of 2024.
The company has partnered with tech biggies, including Microsoft, Google, and MediaTek, to bring in these generative AI functions on these devices.
OPPO is investing in AI innovation to enrich user experiences in the field of image processing, smart charging, and natural language processing.
More than 5,300 OPPO AI patent families have been applied for globally.
An exclusive AI Center has also been established in Shenzhen to lead the AI development cause.
OPPO’s high-end smartphones will feature Google Gemini, large language models.
This includes an AI Toolbox with various tools like an AI writer and recording summary tool, and its capabilities include tools to assist with writing and recordings.
Meanwhile, Microsoft technologies will enable better voice transcription and text-to-speech capabilities.
On the silicon side, OPPO is working with MediaTek to incorporate dedicated AI processing units and AI accelerators into its smartphone chipsets for more advanced AI performance.
Amidst the AI integration push, OPPO has assured users that their data will not be used for training AI models.
The company claims to have robust security and privacy measures in place to safeguard user information.
