Oppo joins hands with Jio to conduct 5G trial on Reno 7 Series: Know more about this collaboration

Oppo India today conducted a 5G standalone and non-standalone network trial in collaboration with India’s largest telecom service provider Jio. The ultra-fast and low latency 5G trial on Reno 7 series was successfully concluded in a demo set-up. The results showcased lag-free 4K video streams, super-fast uploads and downloads.

Reflecting on Oppo’s value proposition and futuristic innovation, the latest and 5G capable Reno 7 series is aimed at complementing the progressive lifestyle of customers while pushing the technological boundaries of flagship smartphones. Deemed as being futuristic, the Reno 7 Pro smartphone supports up to 10 bands and the Reno 7 up to 13 bands to provide access to an uninterrupted 5G network anywhere in the country.

Tasleem Arif, Vice President, India R&D Head, Oppo India, said, “We are all set to have users experience the full range of 5G-capable devices and build an end-to-end 5G ecosystem. Technology such as 5G is altering how the world communicates today and tests like these will further consolidate our efforts in the industry and provide the best value proposition for our customers. As an innovative brand, we will continue to front 5G initiatives in India for the deployment of next-generation of connections for users.”

Speaking about Reno 7, he added, “Staying true to our mission of elevating life through technology artistry, our finely engineered and 5G capable Reno 7 series will deliver the best user experience as Oppo takes handheld device capabilities to a higher level.”

The 5G connected Reno 7 device was able to achieve good throughput in Jio 5G test setup. The site infrastructure and network provider Jio carried out these tests by utilizing the allocated mid-band trial spectrum.

Having developed a 100% homegrown and comprehensive broadband solution, which is cloud-native and digitally managed, Jio is at the forefront of the 5G rollout. The joint collaboration between Jio and Oppo reiterates 5G rollout as top priority for both the organizations.

Oppo is playing a pioneering role in the development of 5G technology in India with continuous R&D investment. The brand works closely with supply chain partners to advance 5G technology and elevate user experience while partnering with leading carriers and retailers to connect to more people. Recently, Oppo also conducted its first VoNR call from its India 5G lab with an aim at making Oppo consumers among the firsts to experience the latest 5G innovations the industry has to offer.

Oppo has filed applications for over 2,900 global patent families and declared more than 1,000 families of 5G Standard Essential Patents to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). Going forward, Oppo will continue to increase its R&D in areas of cutting-edge technology, partner with other industry leaders to facilitate 5G development and continue to unlock the possibilities of 5G as it leads the industry towards the era of the Internet of Experience.

Infinix too has joined hands with Jio to conduct 5G trials for their upcoming Zero 5G smartphone which is set to be launched on February 14. As a part of the virtual lab trial, the device was thoroughly tested through various scenarios to verify its capability and performance for delivering enhanced 5G end-user experiences.
