Oppo and OnePlus have announced that the prices of several of their smartphones will increase starting March 16. According to the companies, the decision comes in response to rising component costs caused by ongoing supply shortages.

The brands confirmed that the price revision will apply across multiple markets including India. In a joint statement, the companies said the move was made after “careful evaluation” of the current situation.

Budget Smartphones Likely to Be Affected First

The initial round of price increases is expected to impact primarily budget devices. This includes models from Oppo’s K-series and A-series lineups, along with select smartphones from OnePlus.

However, some premium product lines will not see immediate changes. Oppo’s flagship Oppo Find series, Oppo Reno series, and the Oppo Pad series tablets will continue to be sold at their current prices for the time being.

The company has also confirmed that its tablet range will not be affected by the upcoming price adjustment.

Expected Price Increase and Possible Impact

While both brands have not disclosed the exact increase in pricing, industry trends suggest the hike could range between 15 and 20 percent.

If this happens, the OnePlus 15R could cross the Rs 50,000 mark. Notably, the phone is already launched at about a 6 per cent higher price compared to its predecessor at Rs 47,999. Previous leaks have even suggested a starting price of Rs 51,999 for the device after the increase.

Other existing OnePlus smartphones such as the OnePlus 15 and devices in the OnePlus Nord 5 series are also expected to receive price adjustments.

On the Oppo side, models that could become more expensive include the Oppo K14x, devices from the Oppo K13 series, Oppo K12x, and smartphones in the Oppo A6 series and Oppo A5 series.

Rising Component Costs Behind the Move

The companies said the decision was driven by rising costs of several key components used in smartphones. This includes high-speed storage hardware and other critical parts affected by supply shortages.

“We have made the following decision after careful evaluation,” the companies stated in their press release, adding that the adjustment is necessary to maintain product quality and the overall user experience.

Oppo and OnePlus are not the only smartphone manufacturers dealing with rising component costs. Several other brands are facing similar challenges and may pass some of the additional costs on to consumers. Samsung and Realme have already increased the prices of some of their smartphones in India. Meanwhile, Vivo and iQOO are also expected to follow a similar path soon.
