OnePlus is preparing to introduce its new OnePlus Turbo series of smartphones in China as the official launch timeline set for January. After weeks of speculation and leaks, the company has now confirmed the arrival of the Turbo lineup. The new performance-focused series aimed at delivering flagship-grade power and class-leading battery life. Here’s everything we know about the model so far.
According to OnePlus on Weibo, the upcoming Turbo smartphone is being marketed as a “performance and battery life supernova” that inherits the core performance DNA of the brand’s flagship devices. The company claims the device will offer the “strongest battery life” in its segment, along with what it describes as an “unprecedented gaming experience” at its expected price point.
Sharing more details, OnePlus China President Li Jie revealed that the Turbo series will introduce several gaming-centric technologies that were previously limited to premium OnePlus models.
These include a 165Hz ultra-high refresh rate display, OnePlus’ proprietary Fengchi gaming kernel, and an “e-sports triple core” setup. Li added that these features have already been praised by professional players and hardcore gamers, and the Turbo lineup aims to bring them to a broader audience.
Fresh leaks shared by AndroidHeadlines have now surfaced, revealing live images and key specifications of the OnePlus Turbo, reportedly codenamed Prado. In terms of design, the smartphone appears to follow a familiar OnePlus aesthetic, featuring a rear camera module placed in the upper-left corner.
The leaked images suggest the device will sport a glossy plastic back panel, a move that could help keep pricing competitive in markets such as India.
The phone is said to be undergoing testing in two colour options, including a greenish-blue variant and a standard black finish.
Based on the latest information, the OnePlus Turbo is expected to feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPS OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a high 165Hz refresh rate. Performance-wise, an AnTuTu benchmark listing reportedly confirms the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset with the device achieving a score of 2,609,327 points.
The handset is tipped to come with flagship-grade LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Memory configurations are expected to range from 12GB RAM with 256GB storage up to a top-tier 16GB RAM and 512GB storage option. In China, the OnePlus Turbo is likely to be available in Unique Black, Ocean Green, and Light Chaser Silver colour variants.
Powering the device could be a massive 9,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. Additional reported features include a metal middle frame and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
Separately, an earlier report has hinted at another OnePlus Turbo-series smartphone carrying “V” branding. This variant is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 7-series chipset and could also feature a 165Hz display along with a large-capacity battery.
The colour options for this model are expected to include Unique Black, Nova White, and Fearless Blue. More details about this Snapdragon 7-series Turbo model are anticipated in the coming days.
