OnePlus has officially replaced its iconic Alert Slider with something new called the “Plus Key.” And while it’s being pitched as a fresh idea, tech enthusiasts online could let us ignore how closely it resembles what Apple already offers with the iPhone’s Action Button.

In a short teaser video shared on X (formerly Twitter) and later reposted by OnePlus founder Pete Lau, we get a glimpse of its features.

In the 10-second clip, the Plus Key appears to be a customisable shortcut button. You can use it to switch ringer modes, enable Do Not Disturb, open the camera, turn on the flashlight and possibly even mute the mic, launch a translation tool, or take a screenshot.

There’s also a hint of some kind of AI-powered function, though it’s unclear exactly what that does.

The interface shown in the video looks a lot like the Action Button UI on recent iPhones. It’s not subtle and the timing of the switch from the Alert Slider only adds to the iPhone comparisons.

However, there are a few differences. A quietly released blog post reveals that OnePlus has its own software interface for customising the Plus Key, and yes, they’re also pushing some AI integration as part of the experience.

In a blog, OnePlus explains, “Unlike traditional hardware switches with fixed functions, the Plus Key is intelligent and customizable. That means you decide what it does and as your needs change, so can the button.”

“With OnePlus AI, Plus Key is more than just a shortcut, it’s a gateway to something smarter. It adds to your experience in ways that go beyond the obvious. Whether it’s your daily habits or the little things you do without thinking, the Plus Key quietly adapts and evolves with you. One press today. A whole new way to interact with your phone tomorrow,” the company blog adds.

The OnePlus 13s, known as the 13T in China, will be the first phone to feature the Plus Key. OnePlus is expected to roll it out on future devices too including the successor to the OnePlus 13.

Lifetime Display Warranty for OnePlus 13s

Meanwhile, the brand released another teaser video confirming a key aspect of the upcoming device. The OnePlus showed off a new green colour variant of the OnePlus 13s in a separate teaser and shared that the phone will come with lifetime display warranty for issues related to the green line problem.

The company confirmed that users will get free screen replacements, but only for this specific issue. It won’t cover physical or external damage.

This isn’t a new move from OnePlus. Back in December, the brand extended the lifetime display warranty to all existing OnePlus phones under its “Green Line Worry-Free Solution”. The company said this decision was made possible thanks to progress in display tech and was aimed at tackling the increasing reports of green line issues. Phones like the OnePlus 13 and 13R also launched with this warranty earlier this year.

OnePlus 13s – What to Expect?

The OnePlus 13s is expected to launch in India soon and it’s shaping up to be the most compact model in the OnePlus 13 series thanks to its 6.32-inch display.

It’ll run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “Elite Edition” chip, the same as the OnePlus 13. The phone could come with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The OLED display will likely offer FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1600 nits peak brightness and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

On the camera front, the 13s is rumoured to include two 50MP rear sensors and a 16MP front camera. Powering everything could be a 6,260mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging.

One thing to note is that the OnePlus 13T/s will not be launching in the US or Europe.
