The highly-anticipated OnePlus foldable smartphone, now officially dubbed OnePlus Open, seems to be on the verge of making its public debut.
Previously expected to launch in August, the release was stalled due to production issues.
However, recent indicators suggest that the company is ramping up efforts to finally unveil its inaugural foldable device.
Here’s a closer look at the unfolding situation.
A new leak may finally provide a concrete release date for the OnePlus Open. According to reputed tech insider Max Jambor, OnePlus is set to unveil its inaugural foldable smartphone on October 19th.
With this new development, let’s take a closer look at the specifications and features expected from this groundbreaking device.
The OnePlus Open is rumoured to feature a high-end 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Complementing the main display, the device also comes with a 6.3-inch AMOLED external screen that too offers a 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the device is likely to be equipped with the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, supported by an Adreno GPU.
The chipset is anticipated to be coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, offering ample room for multitasking and data storage.
On the software front, the OnePlus Open is expected to ship with OxygenOS 13.1, based on the Android 13 operating system, right out of the box.
As for the optics, the device might sport a triple rear camera setup comprising a 48MP primary sensor, another 48MP secondary sensor, and a 64MP lens.
For selfie aficionados, the device could be equipped with dual front cameras, featuring 32MP and 20MP sensors.
Powering all these features could be a 4,800mAh battery with the capability for 100W fast charging.
Pricing details suggest that the OnePlus Open could cost about Rs 1,20,000 in India.
This does make it the costliest OnePlus device to have ever come out but even If these speculations hold true, it positions the device as a more budget-friendly alternative to competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is priced at Rs 1,54,999.
