OnePlus Nord 6.
The OnePlus Nord 6 features a slightly smaller 6.78-inch Sunburst AMOLED display compared to the 6.83-inch panel on the Nord 5. Despite the marginal size difference, both screens deliver a similar 1.5K resolution and a sharp 450ppi pixel density. In terms of display technology, the Nord 6 uses a newer Sunburst AMOLED panel with HDR enhancements, while the Nord 5 comes with a Swift AMOLED panel with Ultra HDR support. Both offer 3840Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort, so long usage should be easy on the eyes.
The Nord 6 really pulls ahead is in refresh rate as it supports up to 165Hz with multiple adaptive modes, while the Nord 5 maxes out at 144Hz. This makes the Nord 6 a better choice for smoother scrolling and high-frame-rate gaming. Touch response is also slightly improved going up to 3200Hz on the Nord 6 versus 3000Hz on the Nord 5.
Nord 6 also takes a big leap with peak brightness of up to 3600 nits, which is significantly higher than the 1800 nits peak on the Nord 5. Both phones support 10-bit color and cover the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, although the Nord 6 mentions 1.7 billion colors compared to 1.07 billion colors on the Nord 5.
For protection, the Nord 5 uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while the Nord 6 comes with a newer Crystal Guard protection.
OnePlus Nord 5.
Nord 6 is powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset clocked at up to 3.2GHz and paired with an Adreno 825 GPU. In comparison, the Nord 5 runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 clocked at 3GHz with an Adreno 735 GPU.
Nord 6 has the advantage with a newer architecture and slightly higher clock speed supported with a more powerful GPU. This should translate into better overall performance, especially in gaming, sustained workloads and long-term usage.
Both phones come with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB storage, so multitasking performance should be solid on both. However, the Nord 6 uses faster UFS storage newer generation, whereas the Nord 5 is limited to UFS 3.1. This means quicker app loading times, faster file transfers and a generally snappier experience on the Nord 6.
On the software side, the Nord 6 ships with Android 16 paired with OxygenOS 16, while the Nord 5 comes with Android 15 and OxygenOS 15. So, the Nord 6 not only offers newer hardware but also a more updated software experience out of the box.
The OnePlus Nord 6 features a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA-600 primary sensor with a 1/1.953-inch sensor size and 0.8μm pixel size. It is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera using the OmniVision OV08F sensor. For selfies and video calls, the Nord 6 comes with a 32-megapixel front camera.
On the other hand, the OnePlus Nord 5 also has a 50-megapixel main rear camera but pairs it with a higher-resolution 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It could offer more detail in wide shots compared to the Nord 6’s 8-megapixel sensor. For selfies, the Nord 5 takes the lead with a 50-megapixel front camera significantly higher than the 32-megapixel shooter on the Nord 6.
In simple terms, the Nord 6 focuses on a newer primary sensor, while the Nord 5 has an advantage in versatility and resolution.
This is where the OnePlus Nord 6 really stands out. Nord 6 packs a massive 9,000mAh battery, which is a big jump over the already large 6,800mAh battery on the Nord 5. This gives the Nord 6 a clear advantage especially for heavy users and gamers.
In terms of charging, both devices are on equal footing. They support 80W fast charging, so top-ups should be quick on both. You also get 5W reverse charging support on both models, which can be useful for charging accessories.
Overall, if battery capacity is your priority, the Nord 6 clearly takes the lead with its significantly larger battery.
The OnePlus Nord 6 clearly comes with more performance-focused upgrades such as smoother 165Hz display, much higher peak brightness, a newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, faster storage and not to forget massive 9,000mAh battery. It’s built for users who prioritise gaming, endurance and overall long-term performance.
The OnePlus Nord 5, however, still holds its ground in a few areas. It offers a slightly larger display, a higher-resolution ultra-wide camera and a significantly better front camera. This makes it more appealing for users who care about selfies and camera versatility.
So if your focus is on performance, battery life and a more advanced display, the Nord 6 is the clear winner.
