Although OnePlus has not yet officially announced the launch date or confirmed the smartphone, key specifications of the upcoming flagship have been making headlines. After display and performance features were leaked in the last few weeks, the latest update reveals more about the possible battery specs. Here’s everything we know about the phone so far.
OnePlus 16 Tipped to Feature a 9,000mAh Battery
The latest information comes from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, who recently also revealed details about the OnePlus 16’s camera hardware. The tipster has now shared information about the phone’s battery.
According to DCS’s post, the OnePlus 16 will reportedly feature a 9,000mAh battery. The upcoming OnePlus 16 would be the first phone in the company’s numbered flagship series to carry a battery this large.
Just to recall, the brand already offers phones with 9,000mAh capacity in other markets. These include OnePlus Turbo 6 in China and the OnePlus Nord 6 in India.
Coming back to OnePlus 16, the tipster claims the battery will use Oppo’s high-energy battery technology. It reportedly supports low-voltage discharge, a technology that should allow OnePlus to accommodate the larger battery capacity without facing capacity-related restrictions.
Meanwhile, previous reports suggest that the OnePlus 16 will support 100W wired charging. The phone is also tipped to offer 50W wireless charging.
OnePlus 16 – What Else We Know?
The sizeable battery is expected to be paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset paired with Android 17 with ColorOS 17.
The display could further reinforce the phone’s gaming focus. DCS previously claimed that the OnePlus 16 may support a 165Hz refresh rate across a wider range of system and app scenarios. In supported games, the refresh rate could reportedly go as high as 185Hz.
The camera system is also expected to receive a significant upgrade. The OnePlus 16 is reportedly being developed with a 200-megapixel primary rear camera. It could be joined by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and another 50-megapixel sensor for ultrawide photography. It will most likely have a 50-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus support.
Other expected features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the display, dual stereo speakers and an X-axis vibration motor. The smartphone is also reportedly being developed with IP68 and IP69 ratings, which would provide protection against dust and water.
