OnePlus has officially confirmed new camera details for the OnePlus 15R, which is set to launch in India on December 17. In the days leading up to the launch, the company has been gradually revealing key specifications of the upcoming smartphone. Here’s what we know.
OnePlus 15R Selfie Camera Details (Confirmed)
According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 15R will feature the “most advanced selfie camera ever fitted to an R Series device.” The smartphone will come equipped with a 32-megapixel front camera that supports autofocus, allowing the lens to automatically adjust for sharper and clearer selfies.

With this upgrade, the OnePlus 15R matches the flagship OnePlus 15, which also features a 32-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus. However, while the OnePlus 15 uses a Sony IMX709 sensor for the front camera, the OnePlus 15R is rumoured to rely on an OmniVision sensor.
OnePlus has also confirmed that the OnePlus 15R will be the first R Series smartphone to support 4K video recording at 30fps using the front camera. By comparison, the previous-generation OnePlus 13R featured a 16-megapixel selfie camera limited to 1080p video recording.
OnePlus 15R – What Else We Know So Far?
As confirmed earlier, the OnePlus 15R will sport a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, matching the flagship OnePlus 15. The company claims the panel offers a pixel density of 450 PPI and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits with brightness levels ranging from as low as 2 nits up to 1,800 nits.
The Detailmax Engine, which made its debut on the OnePlus 15, will also be available on the OnePlus 15R. It is said to enable three advanced camera features, which are Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and the Clear Night Engine.
On the performance front, the OnePlus 15R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. OnePlus claims it will be the first smartphone to launch with this processor, which has been co-optimised with Qualcomm. The device is also confirmed to feature the new G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated Touch Response Chip.
The OnePlus 15R will pack a massive 7,400mAh battery, making it the largest battery ever used in a OnePlus smartphone in India. According to the company, the battery will retain up to 80 per cent of its capacity even after four years of use.

The OnePlus 15R will officially launch on December 17 via a livestream from Bengaluru, alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2. Tickets for the launch event are currently available on BookMyShow.
As for availability, reports have revealed that the phone will be available for purchase through Amazon India and OnePlus online store. The phone is expected in Charcoal Black, Mint Green, and Electric Violet Ace Edition colour options.
OnePlus 15 Receives New Camera Features

Separately, OnePlus has rolled out the OxygenOS 16.0.2.401 update for the OnePlus 15. The update includes the December 2025 Android security patch and introduces a new “Neon” camera filter that recreates the CineStill 800T film effect.
Additionally, the Photos app now supports filters for “Motion Photo,” “Screenshots & screen recordings,” and “Edited” content. This basically makes it easier for users to apply image and video filters. The update also brings bypass charging support for non-gaming activities to the OnePlus 15.
The OxygenOS 16.0.2.401 update is rolling out for the OnePlus 15’s Indian model with firmware version CPH2745_16.0.2.401(EX01). Meanwhile, global models including models in Europe are receiving the update with firmware CPH2747_16.0.2.401(EX01).
Reports suggest that this update is currently rolling out to a small number of OnePlus 15 devices in the first phase. However, it is expected to have a wider rollout in the coming days if everything with the initial rollout goes smoothly.
